WHY SHOULD YOU LISTEN TO ME?
That is an excellent question and one I ask every time I visit someone else's site. What gives this person the right to teach or coach me on how to do something. There are a few things I'm looking for when I personally seek a mentor. I'd like to share those things with you and then give you my qualifications on the backside.
Things to look for in an effective mentor, or in this case a home business mentor.
1. Integrity - This character trait will either be very obvious or obviously absent in the marketing, copy writing and/or presentation at a person's website. So many times you can tell that someone is just trying to "sell" you something and aren't really interested in helping you in the least bit. In fact this happens on such a consistent basis that our industry receives a bad rap and unfortunately characterized as filled with scams. This is really too bad because this really is an incredible industry filled with extraordinary opportunity for the person who is willing to work diligently.
2. Experience - When looking for a good home business mentor, you want someone who has experience in the industry. Do they work from home? Does their home based business provide a full time income? Do they have experience in various niches of this industry such as mlm, network marketing, affiliate marketing and other various types of internet marketing, or are they a 1 trick pony?
3. Effective Teaching Skills - This industry is filled with successful people who could tell you how they've accomplished this or that, but when you ask them to teach you how it's like listening to someone speaking a language you've never heard. A good comparison would be when Adam Sandler speaks jibberish in Billy Madison. A good home business mentor will be a good teacher. He or she will work to break things down so that anyone, even those with limited education or skill sets, could understand. A good teacher will always seek the good of the student. So many so called "gurus" are only interested in making themselves look good and could really care less if the students really learn.
4. Success - I personally believe it's hard to listen to someone teach on something that they personally haven't used or seen some level of success with. That's why many people have such a hard time "sponsoring" others in their mlm or network marketing gig. They invite others to take a look and the first question out of the prospects mouth is, "How's it going for you?"
So, how do I measure up to the qualifications above?
Integrity - This is something that I will not try and convince you of through an argument. I encourage you to read the info on my site and judge for yourself if I'm an honest guy. Experience - I've been in the home business industry since early 2006 and have been full time since August of 2007. Effective Teaching Skills - I've been teaching and preaching in churches for the last 12 years. I have a Masters degree in Education and a Bachelors degree in Communication. I believe one of my spiritual gifts is teaching and I absolutely love seeing a student "get it". Success - I have personally made money in mlm and network marketing and have had organizations that received ZERO help from upline that were over 400. That's right, not 4000 or 40000. There's no hype here, but both of those groups paid very significant checks. I also make money in affiliated marketing and internet marketing niches. My most success has been in the development of lead capture systems that have generated over 10,000 leads and more for people since April of 2007.
In many ways I feel a little prideful for writing the things above, but ego is not the motivation here. I want to help you if you are willing to learn.
